About Writers 4 A Purpose

Writers 4 A Purpose is an organization for writers founded by writers. W4AP is based in Central Pennsylvania and is involved in a number of initiatives and outreaches related to writing. The group sponsors writing competitions for middle school students, high school students, and adults. In addition, they hold writing workshops for both youths and adults. Additionally, W4AP creates informational videos with the goal of helping aspiring authors reach their goals.

The writers also contribute to charity through their yearly writing compilations. 100% of profits are donated to a variety of worthy causes.

Val Cates is a teacher, author, and one of the founders of Writers 4 A Purpose. Val hosts a series of videos on Facebook and YouTube geared towards inspiring fellow writers. She is the author of the YA-Fantasy novel A Gift of Name, the first novel in The Stolen Heir Series

Sara Stevenson

Sara Stevenson holds a Masters of the Arts and Humanities from The Pennsylvania State University.  She is a mother of three, a hoarder of pens, and a drinker of copious amounts of caffeine.  Her works can be found on various platforms and in various magazines, and they can be found by visiting her website.

Matthew S. Conrad 
Member

Matthew S. Conrad is an author, husband, father, and U.S. Army Veteran. After suffering a debilitating injury as a member of the Army 82nd Airborne, he inspiringly overcame a myriad of obstacles: the loss of a beloved career, physical injury, addiction, and mental health issues.

 

After receiving help from Veterans Affairs, he was able to establish a new lease on life, and with a renewed sense of purpose, he turned to writing as a way to express his feelings and creativity.
